Everyone agreed the first two chapters were very difficult to read. If you can get past them, you will enjoy most of the middle of the book. The beginning is madness via existential philosophical angst. Some of the reviewers I read indicated that the translation may be a little problematic; I felt there were moments that the language felt stilted, but noone else in the group mentioned it. The end felt wrapped up a bit too easily. We all felt a bit inspired to read Night as a result of reading this book; which is a really good reason to have read the book!
