What We Are Reading in February
On Monday, February 15, we will meet to discuss: The Year that Follows by Scott Lasser. For a blog review of the book, check out January Magazine. This is Scott Lasser's third book. You can read more about him on his blog. One interesting tidbit I learned from Contemporary Authors, Lasser was a bond trader when his first book, Battle Creek was published, and he has an MFA and an MBA.

It was a brief discussion since with the new snowfall, we had only 3 intrepid bookgroup members show up. Critical analysis of the book roughly summed up as follows:
1. characters were not very well developed, withthe exception of Sam
2. it reads like a movie;
3. poignant in its simplicity and honesty of voice in the female character;
4. the romance was contrived; typical wrap up to a happy ending;
5. an author to watch.
