What We Are Reading in June
The Woodsburner by John Pipkin. This is Pipkin's first novel and a winner of several awards. From the reviews I have read, I believe this should be a interesting read. Check out his web site for reviews and more information about him.

I think this book was difficult to get into. It took me about two-thirds of the way into it before I fell into the rhythm of it. But once I did, I found I liked most of the characters. The book is about a fire that Henry David Thoreau accidentally set in 1844 when he was 26 years old. While we are introduced to characters and led through their lives at various points in their histories, the book really takes place in the day of the fire. The fire was a catalyst for change in all of the characters' lives.
